At Deers Leap we’ve talked a lot about ebikes and how great they are, and we like to back up our talk with action. So your intrepid author took an ebike on a day out recently to cross Scotland in a day
The plan was to find the narrowest bit of Scotland and cycle from one sea to the other. This turns out to be up in the far north of Scotland from the village of Ardgay on the Dornoch Firth, to Ullapool on the Atlantic Coast on Loch Broom. Whilst this sounded initially like a bit of an adventurous undertaking, a bit of Googling revealed that it is a fairly regular route for mountain bikers, although quite a day out.
In our case the aim was to see how an ebike battery would fare for the day, so I took an Orbea Wild FS full-suspension mountain bike with a second battery mounted just in case. Check out the video here, with the warning that, as you’ll see, I’ve hardly ever made any videos!
